Kavita was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in July. The surgeon at Saint Joseph Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $690, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $550 short. my mother has been in and out of Saint Joseph Hospital since July. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $690 is more than we can find. While we wait, Kavita struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Kavita won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $550 goes: • Post-operative medication: $40 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $60 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $320 • Physiotherapy sessions: $130 If you're reading this, thank you.
