Junaid was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in May. The surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $640, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $450 short. my brother has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since May. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $640 is more than we can find. While we wait, Junaid struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Junaid won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
