Juliana was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in June. The surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,650, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $1,600 short. my daughter has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since June. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,650 is more than we can find. While we wait, Juliana struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Juliana won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
