Jose was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in July. The surgeon at Ottawa Orthopedic Institute recommended septoplasty, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $14,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $7,050 short.
my father has been in and out of Ottawa Orthopedic Institute since July. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $14,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Jose struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Jose won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
