Surgery fund for José: gallbladder removal in Tehuacán
After severe cataracts in both eyes, José was cleared for gallbladder removal, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In July I was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes. My surgeon at Saint Francis Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $640, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $450 short.
Doctors at Saint Francis Hospital told me severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without gallbladder removal. I work as a school bus driver, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $640 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a school bus driver have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. I'll not be able to stand for more than ten minutes during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $450 goes:
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $130
• Travel and lodging for the family: $100
• Physiotherapy sessions: $220
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Wishing you peace. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Thinking of Tehuacán.
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for José
It's all in the list in the story. pre-operative tests and imaging is the big one at $130, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Thanks for asking.
You're not alone, José. Wishing José a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Blessings.
sending love, José. I hope things turn around soon. God bless
Keep going, José. Wishing José a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I'm in logistics myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. God bless.
Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from Kilkenny
