João was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in July. The surgeon at São Paulo University Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,900, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,500 short.
my son has been in and out of São Paulo University Hospital since July. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,900 is more than we can find.
While we wait, João struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time João won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
