After a torn ligament that needs reconstruction, Jericho was cleared for gallbladder removal, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In July I was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction. My surgeon at Bacoor Community Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,700, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $850 short. Doctors at Bacoor Community Hospital told me a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without gallbladder removal. I work as a hotel cleaner, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,700 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a hotel cleaner have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $850 goes: • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $70 • Hospital stay (5 nights): $430 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $290 • Travel and lodging for the family: $60 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly. - Jericho

  • is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Jericho

Pre-operative tests and imaging is $70 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks for asking.

  • Sending good thoughts, Jericho. Shared it with a few friends!

    • is there anything that isn't money that would help Jericho?

Thank you. If you're in Bacoor I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great.

    • Keep going. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Bacoor.

      • Good luck, Jericho. Hope you get there. I'll check back for the next update
