Surgery fund for Jamal: gallbladder removal in Half-Way Tree
After a herniated spinal disc, Jamal was cleared for gallbladder removal, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Jamal was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in August. The surgeon at Half-Way Tree Orthopedic Institute recommended gallbladder removal, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,800, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $2,100 short.
my father has been in and out of Half-Way Tree Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,800 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Jamal struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Jamal won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $2,100 goes:
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $800
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $960
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $160
• Physiotherapy sessions: $180
Thanks for being kind about this.
