Auckland
Isabella was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in May. The surgeon at Auckland Orthopedic Institute recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,900, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $2,300 short. my mother has been in and out of Auckland Orthopedic Institute since May. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,900 is more than we can find. While we wait, Isabella struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Isabella won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $2,300 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,750 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $260 • Physiotherapy sessions: $290 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Wesley
