Surgery fund for Ignacio: cataract surgery in Medellín
A scheduled cataract surgery in August is out of reach without help covering $250 of the cost.

In April I was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated. My surgeon at Saint Joseph Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for August. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $360, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $250 short.
Doctors at Saint Joseph Hospital told me a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without cataract surgery. I work as a taxi driver, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $360 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a taxi driver have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $250 goes:
• Post-operative medication: $95
• Physiotherapy sessions: $125
• Travel and lodging for the family: $30

Take care. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
