Hari was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in October. The surgeon at Saint Luke Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and He is scheduled for January. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,300, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,150 short. my son has been in and out of Saint Luke Hospital since October. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,300 is more than we can find. While we wait, Hari struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Hari won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $1,150 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $460 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $430 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $55 • Post-operative medication: $50 • Physiotherapy sessions: $110 • Travel and lodging for the family: $45 Thank you so much.
