Ciudad de México
Gonzalo was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in August. The surgeon at Ciudad de México University Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,200, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $2,400 short. my husband has been in and out of Ciudad de México University Hospital since August. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,200 is more than we can find. While we wait, Gonzalo struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Gonzalo won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $2,400 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,100 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $810 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $175 • Post-operative medication: $90 • Physiotherapy sessions: $115 • Travel and lodging for the family: $110 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Sending good thoughts, Araceli. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My neighbor in Kikuyu donated after I showed her your page. God bless.

          • Best of luck, Araceli. This could happen to any of us. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
