Gerardo was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in May. The surgeon at Corpus Christi Regional Medical Center recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,750, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $4,650 short.
my husband has been in and out of Corpus Christi Regional Medical Center since May. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Gerardo struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Gerardo won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
