In March I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee. My surgeon at Bari University Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for May. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $6,750, and after what my employer's plan will pay, I'm still $5,000 short.
Doctors at Bari University Hospital told me osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a seamstress, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $6,750 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a seamstress have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Gennaro.
Sure. The biggest one is surgeon and anesthesia fees, $1,500. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Appreciate you taking the time.
