Surgery fund for Everett: a partial thyroidectomy in Oakland
After a large ovarian cyst, Everett was cleared for a partial thyroidectomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In March I was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst. My surgeon at Oakland University Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for June. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $5,750, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $4,100 short.
Doctors at Oakland University Hospital told me a large ovarian cyst will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a market vendor, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $5,750 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a market vendor have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. I'll not be able to walk without help during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
