Eva was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in September. The surgeon at San Antonio Regional Medical Center recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,500, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $3,350 short. my mother has been in and out of San Antonio Regional Medical Center since September. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Eva struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Eva won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
