Surgery fund for Eugene: ACL reconstruction in Cardiff
After a large ovarian cyst, Eugene was cleared for ACL reconstruction, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Eugene was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in January. The surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,500, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $5,050 short.
my son has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since January. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Eugene struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Eugene won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
