Surgery fund for Emilio: gallbladder removal in Coyoacán
Emilio needs gallbladder removal at Coyoacán General Hospital and the family is $1,450 short of the hospital's estimate.

Emilio was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in August. The surgeon at Coyoacán General Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,900, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $1,450 short.
my husband has been in and out of Coyoacán General Hospital since August. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,900 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Emilio struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Emilio won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $940
• Physiotherapy sessions: $150
• Travel and lodging for the family: $120
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $165
• Post-operative medication: $75
Glad we found this place.
