Surgery fund for Ella: palate reconstruction surgery in Tacoma
After endometriosis requiring surgery, Ella was cleared for palate reconstruction surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In December I was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery. My surgeon at Tacoma Regional Medical Center recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for March. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $14,500, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $7,250 short.
Doctors at Tacoma Regional Medical Center told me endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. I work as a hotel cleaner, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $14,500 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a hotel cleaner have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to stand for more than ten minutes during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.

• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,450
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $2,250
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $400
• Post-operative medication: $160
• Physiotherapy sessions: $670
• Travel and lodging for the family: $320
