Madina
Elizabeth was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in October. The surgeon at Madina Regional Medical Center recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for January. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,650, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,000 short. my mother has been in and out of Madina Regional Medical Center since October. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,650 is more than we can find. While we wait, Elizabeth struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Elizabeth won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,000 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $510 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $220 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $80 • Post-operative medication: $45 • Physiotherapy sessions: $105 • Travel and lodging for the family: $40 With deep gratitude, Felicia
