Eleanor was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in May. The surgeon at Cambridge General Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $11,250, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $5,650 short.
my mother has been in and out of Cambridge General Hospital since May. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $11,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Eleanor struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Eleanor won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.

What exactly is the $5,650 for?
Sure. The biggest one is pre-operative tests and imaging, $290. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. I'll keep the page updated.
