Dustin was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in May. The surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,200, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,950 short. my brother has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since May. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,200 is more than we can find. While we wait, Dustin struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
