Donna was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in August. The surgeon at Nashville Community Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $5,950 short.
my wife has been in and out of Nashville Community Hospital since August. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Donna struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Donna won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Donna.
Sure. The biggest one is hospital stay (4 nights), $1,250. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Appreciate you taking the time.
