In June I was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated. My surgeon at Brescia Orthopedic Institute recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and I have been placed on the schedule for September. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $4,900, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $2,950 short.
Doctors at Brescia Orthopedic Institute told me a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $4,900 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Donatella.
It's all in the list in the story. physiotherapy sessions is the big one at $220, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. I'll keep the page updated.
