Dolores was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in November. The surgeon at Saint Joseph Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for February. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,500, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $5,100 short.
my wife has been in and out of Saint Joseph Hospital since November. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Dolores struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Dolores won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
