Dolores was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in July. The surgeon at Austin Regional Medical Center recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $18,000, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $9,000 short.
my mother has been in and out of Austin Regional Medical Center since July. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $18,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Dolores struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
