Divya was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in December. The surgeon at Mumbai Regional Medical Center recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for March. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,150, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $700 short.
my sister has been in and out of Mumbai Regional Medical Center since December. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,150 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Divya struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Divya won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
