Declan was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in August. The surgeon at Limerick General Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,250, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $5,850 short.
my father has been in and out of Limerick General Hospital since August. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Declan struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Declan won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
