Surgery fund for Chihiro: knee replacement surgery in Yokohama
After a herniated spinal disc, Chihiro was cleared for knee replacement surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Chihiro was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in August. The surgeon at Yokohama General Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,850, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $2,900 short.
my wife has been in and out of Yokohama General Hospital since August. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,850 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Chihiro struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Chihiro won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Chihiro.
Sure. The biggest one is post-operative medication, $320. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Good question.
