Charlene was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in May. The surgeon at Pretoria University Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and She is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $880, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $700 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Pretoria University Hospital since May. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $880 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Charlene struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Charlene won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
