The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,250, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $3,150 short. my daughter has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since September. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,250 is more than we can find. While we wait, Camila struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Camila won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
