Brooks was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in July. The surgeon at Los Angeles Regional Medical Center recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $9,500, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $7,500 short. my son has been in and out of Los Angeles Regional Medical Center since July. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $9,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Brooks struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
