Surgery fund for Brandon: a partial thyroidectomy in Liverpool
After a hernia that has become strangulated, Brandon was cleared for a partial thyroidectomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In October I was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated. My surgeon at Saint Catherine Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for January. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $5,750, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $3,500 short.
Doctors at Saint Catherine Hospital told me a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a seamstress, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $5,750 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a seamstress have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. I'll not be able to walk without help during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
