Surgery fund for Binod: ACL reconstruction in Kathmandu
Binod needs ACL reconstruction at Kathmandu General Hospital and the family is $1,000 short of the hospital's estimate.

In August I was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery. My surgeon at Kathmandu General Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,350, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $1,000 short.
Doctors at Kathmandu General Hospital told me endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without ACL reconstruction. I work as a seamstress, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,350 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a seamstress have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 4 weeks. I'll not be able to drive during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $520
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $270
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $75
• Post-operative medication: $20
• Physiotherapy sessions: $55
• Travel and lodging for the family: $60
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Praying for you, Binod. Get well soon. Love from Shreveport.
Sending love. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'm in nursing myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Greetings from Mansoura.
Thinking of you and your family. Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Kathmandu.
