Surgery fund for Beatriz: palate reconstruction surgery in Campinas
After a herniated spinal disc, Beatriz was cleared for palate reconstruction surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In November I was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc. My surgeon at Campinas Orthopedic Institute recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for January. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $2,950, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $2,050 short.
Doctors at Campinas Orthopedic Institute told me a herniated spinal disc will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $2,950 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. I'll not be able to walk without help during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
