In May I was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery. My surgeon at Saint Joseph Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for July. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $870, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $650 short. Doctors at Saint Joseph Hospital told me endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. I work as a hotel cleaner, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $870 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a hotel cleaner have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $650 goes: • Post-operative medication: $40 • Travel and lodging for the family: $45 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $565 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Sure. The biggest one is post-operative medication, $40. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. I'll keep the page updated.

Good luck, Awino. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Greetings from Seoul.

                    • praying for you, Awino. This could happen to any of us. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
