Avery was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in July. The surgeon at Huntsville Regional Medical Center recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,500, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $5,150 short. my mother has been in and out of Huntsville Regional Medical Center since July. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Avery struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Avery won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $5,150 goes: • Post-operative medication: $300 • Travel and lodging for the family: $360 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,150 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $2,340 Every share and every dollar helps.
