Atul was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in May. The surgeon at Salem General Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $930, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $650 short.
my father has been in and out of Salem General Hospital since May. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $930 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Atul struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Atul won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
