Pune
Arjun was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in December. The surgeon at Pune Regional Medical Center recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for March. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $810, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $650 short. my father has been in and out of Pune Regional Medical Center since December. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $810 is more than we can find. While we wait, Arjun struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Arjun won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $650 goes: • Post-operative medication: $50 • Travel and lodging for the family: $50 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $90 • Hospital stay (5 nights): $400 • Physiotherapy sessions: $60 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Pooja

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Arjun.

    • Post-operative medication is $50 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Happy to explain more.

  • Sending good thoughts. Wishing Arjun a smooth procedure and a full recovery.

    • Wishing you the best, Pooja. This could happen to any of us.
