Anjana was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in June. The surgeon at Howrah General Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,300, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $900 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Howrah General Hospital since June. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,300 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Anjana struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Anjana won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $900 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $520
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $75
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $260
• Post-operative medication: $45
