After endometriosis requiring surgery, Amanda was cleared for a partial thyroidectomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Amanda was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in February. The surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,400, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,100 short.
my wife has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since February. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,400 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Amanda struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Amanda won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Travel and lodging for the family: $135
• Physiotherapy sessions: $110
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $175
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $560
• Post-operative medication: $120
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
