Surgery fund for Achieng: knee replacement surgery in Jinja
After endometriosis requiring surgery, Achieng was cleared for knee replacement surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Achieng was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in February. The surgeon at Jinja University Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $710, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $500 short.
my mother has been in and out of Jinja University Hospital since February. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $710 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Achieng struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Achieng won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $500 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $390
• Post-operative medication: $50
• Travel and lodging for the family: $60
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
