Sunil's emergency hernia repair can't wait - please help us cover the bill
A scheduled emergency hernia repair in June is out of reach without help covering $900 of the cost.

In April I was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal. My surgeon at Kathmandu Regional Medical Center recommended emergency hernia repair, and I have been placed on the schedule for June. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,150, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $900 short.
Doctors at Kathmandu Regional Medical Center told me a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without emergency hernia repair. I work as a retail assistant, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,150 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a retail assistant have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to look after the children alone during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.

• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $300
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $420
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $65
• Post-operative medication: $40
• Physiotherapy sessions: $40
• Travel and lodging for the family: $35
