Şule's prostate cancer treatment fund

Şule is facing prostate cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In December I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My oncology team at the Istanbul Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in March. I was told to expect about 6 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 43, I worked as a bus conductor until December, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Istanbul Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,450 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,800 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $145 • Household costs while unable to work: $505 I hope life is good to you. - Şule
