The storm hit the Orchard settlement on 4 November. My home was one of 42 damaged, and 8 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $4,150 goes: • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $680 • Food parcels for displaced families: $1,550 • Roofing sheets and timber: $1,200 • Tools and labor for repairs: $720 If you're reading this, thank you. - Sebastian

  • So sorry you're going through this. I hope things turn around soon. I went through something like this 8 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Dortmund.

    • sending good thoughts. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Please keep us posted

      • Sending good thoughts, Sebastian. It takes guts to ask. Well done.
