Stop the eviction: 5 months of rent for Lena's family in Berlin
A notice to vacate arrived last week. Lena needs $2,600 to clear the arrears and stay housed in Berlin.

When the textile factory closed in June, I fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $2,600.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave.
I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working evenings as a cleaner, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $2,600 goes:
• Rent arrears (5 months): $1,700
• Late fees and court costs: $195
• Utilities in arrears: $185
• First month of rent as a buffer: $520
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Lena.
Rent arrears (5 months) is $1,700 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. It helps to be asked.
Stay strong, Lena. Looking forward to the next update.
