Stop the eviction: 4 months of rent for Ngozi's family in Wudil
After the loss of a second income, Ngozi is 4 months behind on rent and has a notice to vacate from the landlord.
🇳🇬 Wudil, Kano, Nigeria300 views
When the textile factory closed in May, Ngozi fell 4 months behind on rent. Last Monday a notice to vacate was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $450.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by September, the family must leave.
There are 2 children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Ngozi has started working extra hours at a market stall, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $450 goes:
• Rent arrears (4 months): $330
• Late fees and court costs: $15
• Utilities in arrears: $35
• First month of rent as a buffer: $70

Shared this with my family. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Greetings from Bakersfield.
best of luck. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care!
Sending love, Dayo. This could happen to any of us. I went through something like this 14 years ago and strangers helped me out. Blessings
reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in teaching myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. All the best.
