Stop the eviction: 3 months of rent for Nyambura's family in Nairobi
A divorce left Nyambura short on rent for 3 months; help us stay in our home.

Following a long illness in the family, Nyambura fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Monday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $800.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by July, the family must leave.
There are a teenager still in school at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Nyambura has started working night deliveries, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $800 goes:
• First month of rent as a buffer: $140
• Rent arrears (3 months): $630
• Late fees and court costs: $30

a secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. Thinking of Nairobi.
You're not alone, Karanja. Looking forward to the next update. Wish I lived closer to Fort Worth so I could bring a meal. Take care.
