Stop the eviction: 3 months of rent for Mbali's family in Johannesburg
After a cut in working hours, Mbali is 3 months behind on rent and has a 10-day notice to quit from the landlord.

Following a long illness in the family, Mbali fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Thursday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $750.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by September, the family must leave.
There are a teenager still in school at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Mbali has started working weekend shifts, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $750 goes:
• Utilities in arrears: $20
• First month of rent as a buffer: $165
• Rent arrears (3 months): $565
