Stop the eviction: 3 months of rent for Amol's family in Vadodara
A 10-day notice to quit arrived last week. Amol needs $550 to clear the arrears and stay housed in Vadodara.

When my hours were cut in half in June, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Saturday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $550.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by September, we must leave.
I have three school-aged children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working weekend shifts, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $550 goes:
• Rent arrears (3 months): $430
• Utilities in arrears: $15
• First month of rent as a buffer: $105
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Thanks for sharing this. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. My husband and I read this together.
Thinking of you and your family, Amol. I hope things turn around soon. Thinking of Vadodara.
thinking of you. This could happen to any of us. After 29 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Kadıköy
Your post was clear and honest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Obuasi
